Trinity under the Stars 2023, sponsored by XBM Limited for the second year in a row, raises over £6,600 for the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation & Helping the Homeless Wakefield as well as food donations for the Wakefield Street Kitchen.

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, the charitable arm of Professional Rugby League Club, Wakefield Trinity, organised the “Trinity under the Stars 2023” to raise funds for the Foundation and Helping the Homeless Wakefield. This was the second such event, both sponsored by local technology business, XBM Limited.

The evening started with musical entertainment from Local Vocals and Amber Falls, followed by interviews with Trinity first team players and supporters and the obligatory quiz. The event also collected food for the Wakefield Street Kitchen, who kindly kept us all going on the night with coffee and hotdogs.

Despite being the first truly cold night of the autumn, (dropping to -1oC at one point) over 30 people braved sleeping in the cold, most well wrapped up in coats and sleeping bags, with medals award by Trinity Foundation’s Media & Commercial Executive, Will Moore, on Saturday morning.

Dan Richardson, XBM Service Manager(Leeds), and J. Epton, XBM’s Head of Marketing, both participated in the sleep out, raising funds as well collecting food donations from the staff in XBM offices.

As an independent family owned business, XBM has retained deep links in West Yorkshire and strives to make a positive contribution. By giving back to the community through sponsorship, practical support, and participation,  we take an active role in community development, help community members succeed, and help foster a deeper sense of unity. XBM sponsors the Wakefield Trinity Ladies Rugby League Team, Wakefield Trinity First Team Player, Joe Law, as well as the Trinity under the Stars events.

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation

The Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation uses the power of the Rugby League and physical activity to inspire the local community, creating lasting legacies for the people within it. They use sport and physical activity to create a positive change and impact on the lives of those they work with. The Foundation works across five distinct departments, Education, Rugby League, Health & Wellbeing, Youth Engagement, and Heritage.

As well as  the Men’s and Women’s Teams, the Academy, Scholarship,  and youth teams for the under 14s and over 14s, Trinity has teams in the Physical Disability Rugby League, Learning Disability Rugby League, and Wheelchair Rugby League.

Helping the Homeless Wakefield

Helping the Homeless Wakefield is a local charity looking to support those who currently reside on our streets. Current statistics say one in three households are struggling between eating or heating and as such are at a very real risk of falling homeless.

Their main goals are:

  • Stopping rough sleeping on the streets of Wakefield.
  • Providing temporary accommodation for the homeless.
  • Helping the homeless and needy to get back on their feet.

Wakefield Street Kitchen

Wakefield Street Kitchen is a charitable organisation based in Wakefield and offering food, clothing and support to the homeless and all those in need in and near the West Yorkshire cathedral city.

The dedicated volunteers at WSK run a food bank and a ‘meals on wheels’ service where hot, nutritious meals are delivered to local people. In Wakefield city centre and a string of nearby areas, including Flanshaw, Horbury, and Lupset, volunteers for the charity can deliver food and clothing to whoever needs these supplies.

Founded in 2019, the charity has received many food donations from businesses like Aldi, Asda, Greggs, Morrisons and Warburtons as well as individual members of the Wakefield community.
